The Grove Mall Centre Management and the South African Police Services (SAPS) are exploring after a set of five to seven guys robbed a jewelry store and got off with jewels valued in an undisclosed period on Thursday morning.
SAPS spokespersons Captain Daniel Mavimbela reported the owner of the jewelry store managed to open fire in the group. He said the authorities suspected that one of the suspects were hurt during the shooting.
“Our people are very attentive and are conscious of such incidents. There are not any signs that members of the public or personnel were hurt,” Mavimbela explained.
“It is our duty as law enforcement agencies to make certain that individuals feel safe but we’re saying people should be alert and aware and report any suspicious movement at malls instantly.”
Mavimbela added there currently were no arrests made and the investigations lasted.
