Scosha Woolridge never thought of becoming the go-to gal for emerald engagement rings. She grew up in Sydney, spent her twenties backpacking through India, Thailand, Central America, and Brazil, also took jobs making artwork, providing massages and painting murals to get by. After settling in New York, where she’s worked with Lorraine Kirke to start out the West Village apparel boutique Geminola (RIP), her innate creative curiosity lead her to design several pieces of jewellery–just for the helluvit.
“Gold has been quite inexpensive back then,” she states. “I had six hundred bucks for my name, so I left several gold bracelets and marketed them at wholesale. Orders were placed by people. I dropped into the entire matter by accident.”

Ten years after, her Brooklyn jewelry store (which also conveys fabrics, beauty products, clothes and pottery) has come to be a one-stop shop for unconventional brides-to-be looking for ivory, earthy emerald engagement rings that are anything but basic. Below, her ideas on special engagement rings and everything green.

On deciding to Work With Emeralds:“Emeralds are my birthstone. Additionally, green reminds me of my mother and grandma. I love diamonds because they’re so glowing. I can’t stand going to gem shows. It seems like they’re just mining the earth and selling portions of the earth. I must do it my way, although I love finding the freshwater emerald. The adventure of sourcing it needs to be like securing a treasure.”

On The First Emerald Engagement Ring She Ever Created:“I had a 22 carat gold ring that I made ten years ago, when gold was still very cheap, and I practiced setting little stones onto it by hand. I am not a trained jeweler, so that it took a time to me. Then I found that this decided to set it in traditional prongs on that band, and emerald. I surprised myself, although I thought I would not put on it. After a time, I simply never took off it.”

On Consideration For Emeralds:“They are the softest precious gem, much more delicate than a sapphire or a blossom. They can chip. I tell my customers to take them off whenever theydoing the dishes or taking a shower or’re doing sports. Not that I follow my own information, naturally!”

Costco’s capacity to sell designer brands like Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein is a attraction for funds shoppers.
On the other hand, regions of the merchant’s strategy’s legality is being called into question.
On Monday, a federal judge ruled that Costco owed the jewellery company Tiffany & Co.. $19.4 million after the budget merchant sold gemstone engagement rings utilizing the Tiffany title.
While Costco had contended that the word was known as a standard reference to a ring’s setting, not the brand name itself, a court decided in 2015 that selling things described simply as “Tiffany” infringed on Tiffany’s trademark.
This isn’t the first time Costco was accused of falsely advertising designer products.
In 2013, Michael Kors sued without being authorized to sell them for supposedly marketing the designer’s handbags Costco. According to the lawsuit, Costco advertised $99 Michael Kors handbags, but did not actually stock the bags in shops (and wasn’t authorized to do this). The companies settled the case out of court at 2014.

Costco also offers a history of selling exactly what Refinery 29 predicts “grey market products”– designer things that were obtained through channels that aren’t illegal, but that are unintended by the original manufacturers. Aspirational designer brands like Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren don’t want to get linked to Costco, but sold there nonetheless.
Designer manufacturers “may have an abundance of fabric, or fabric might have come because did not meet their standards,” Marshall Cohen, chief industry analyst at The NPD Group, informed Refinery 29. “They can not sell it openly on the off-price marketplace, so that they market it to the warehouse shops.”
Costco did not instantly respond to Business Insider’s request for comment on its layout brand plan. In addition to concerns, the designer brand business of Costco is in also as a result of customers’ growing disinterest with aspirational brands.
Actually, as customers’ need for designer manufacturers, Costco continues to be growing that the Kirkland brand. The merchant now sells everything from maternity wear to vodka beneath the Kirkland title.

Several people inquired about buying my designs, which was not in the design once I started creating. Promoting my pieces allowed me to feed my obsession, and that I was a fan of! Selling individual pieces turned to folks asking me to establish a sale in their house, which turned to folks saying “you should sell on Etsy”. Snack to a stack of those crispy, chopped onion rings! Quick cooking and simple ingredients makes the onion rings with non-bready feel, a mild and irresistible crunch. The perfect comfort food for household nights and game days in!
It’s my birthday! So I present my own food vice: Crispy as you can not help it burn your tongue, fried onion rings!
Yes, fried. Since there’s no substitute to the actual thing. I’m an expert since I have tried all of the substitutes, and I have found nothing comes close to a daring attitude towards frying and some restaurant style onion ring with ingredients. It’s not scary, you men.
Serve with your favorite salad or sandwich, or as a stand simply cure, there’s nothing better than a pile of spicy, crispy salted onion rings with a non-bready batter. This almost-perfect recipe in Genius Kitchen was exactly what I needed for a small game day laughing, and no one indulging along with me was complaining!
I state almost-perfect since I changed the recipe for the greater up. Read on, and you will discover why!
Paired with a spicy-sweet ketchup + Sriracha sauce, then these crisped onion rings have been delicious! I mean, how best will those be to get a get together with family and friends? You can cook up a batch and then keep them warm on your toaster until guests arrive. Make a couple different dipping sauces. Easy, simple, simple. And come on everyone loves those — even your health nut bestie will not flinch at a fried onion ring. You will have more takers than you could feed! Uh, certainly double this one for a hungry crowd.
Now, I’m not all talk. I mean it while I say they’re foolproof.
Significantly, you have to be certain your oil is hot enough for frying. Too-cool oil means soggy, and “soggy” + onion rings is really a catastrophe. Pour a few cups into a kettle and allow it to preheat to about 375 degrees on a kitchen enclosure. Make your batter. This is a simple combination of egg, oil, milk, milk, baking powder and garlic powder to get a little flavor. Contrary to the original recipe, you don’t have to dip your rings in flour first. I found dipping the onion pieces right into the batter held up nice, and made an extra-light coating.
Fry them to avoid difficulty with the rings and put out a large baking sheet with paper towels for draining. And snacking, as you cook more!
You’ll appreciate these irresistible onion rings for household nights, game days, and good old-fashioned! Stop searching, since this is the most PERFECT recipe you’ll find. Give it a try this weekend!

Yield:Makes 20-30 onion rings / 4-6 servings
Prep Time:
Cook Time:
Complete Time:
1 large yellow onion, sliced
1 large egg
1⁄4 cup vegetable or canola oil
1 cup milk
1 cup whole-wheat bread
1⁄2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
6 cups vegetable or coconut oil, for frying
Specific equipment: (maybe not necessary, but proposed)
Heavy bottomed pot, like Dutch oven
Slotted spoon
Substantial baking sheet
In a big bowl, combine milk whites, 1/4 cup oil and egg. Mix with an electric mixer, set to low speed. Add dry ingredients and continue to mix until smooth.
Add 6 cups oil to a large, heavy pot. Preheat for approximately ten minutes, or until oil reaches about 375 degrees. Reduce heat. Prepare a baking sheet to drain dirt.
Dip onion slices in batter, then put in hot oil. Do this in batches of 4-5 onion rings at one time, so they don’t stick together. Fry until golden on both sides, turning after 30 minutes to 1 minute. Be cautious and be careful not to burn. You might have to keep as they cook, to reduce your warmth.
Remove to paper towel. Repeat with remaining batches.
Serve with ketchup, or even a ketchup + Sriracha mix.
Enjoy!
This recipe can be easily doubled for a crowd. You can cook them and stay warm on your oven prior to serving.
